The village
Sorede is a small village (pop. +/- 3000) with a traditional French feel.  The centre of the village is the Place de la Republique, which is surrounded by the Boucherie, Boulangerie (also a pizzeria), a couple of bars, and a glacier for sitting outside and having a beer, or coffee and a crepe or ice cream.  In summer the square is used for live music, dancing and Sardanas.  Just around the corner are a couple of very nice restaurants, and a few short steps away is the market place, where there is also a Tapas bar.

The Market

Market days are Tuesdays and Fridays, selling some delicious local produce as well as an eclectic mix of other goods.

Buying your veg from the farmer that grew them, while he cooks his breakfast over a camping stove, is a very different experience from shopping in the UK!.

Village centre

Just about 5 minutes walk from the villa, the square is used for live music & dancing ('Bals') in the summer and for sipping drinks with something tasty all year round.

The local Mairie takes great pride in keeping the village clean and looking pretty.

The bell tower (Circa 1733) is a notable landmark, with its added-on clock tower from 1879, that can be seen from miles away in the hills.

Inside there is an 18th century tableau devoted to the virgin Mary.
